The long-awaited CD: Let's do it!

The album was released by German label Hey!blau Records (catalog number HBL 21074). The “real” CD is still available at our concerts. Anyone who is particularly curious can listen here:

Cole Chandler on the recording session:

"We met quite spontaneously in the studio on a Tuesday in October '20. Like in the legendary Blue Note days, we sat in one room and recorded all the tracks in one go. The technical effort was deliberately low, the musical output but all the greater:

Because on this one afternoon the nine tracks for our debut album "Let's Do It!" were created. (adapted from Cole Porter's wonderful standard). The ingredients? A lot of Gershwin, some Cole Porter and a few others..."

The recipe for a hit hasn't changed since the 1920s: a melody that stays in your ear, lyrics that touch your heart, and a rhythmic structure that surprises with small, unexpected twists. Many songs on this album cannot deny their Broadway origins. Similar to the recitatives in the opera, the freely performed “verses” set the stage for the song, first giving it tension and then the space to unfold. Even after a century, this compositional trick has lost none of its elegance. Cole Porter (1891 - 1964) and George Gershwin (1898 - 1937) and his brother Ira (1896 - 1983) mastered the art of writing a good song. So it's no wonder that their melodies are still on everyone's lips and ears today and will undoubtedly remain so for a long time...

When the painter NILS PETERS, who is friends with Cole Chandler, found out about the CD project, he spontaneously agreed to provide one of his works to design the cover. And so we can now use this wonderful work for ourselves.

Nils Peters exhibits his works throughout Germany and internationally with great success:

  • London
  • Dubai
  • Los Angeles
  • Mumbai
  • Bloemfontein (South Africa)
  • Milan
  • Brussels
  • Amsterdam
  • innsbruck
  • Graz

are just some of the places where his pictures hung or hang.

He reports very charmingly about his work on his website, which we can definitely recommend visiting: NILSPETERS.com

By the way, the cover design was in the expert hands of Stephan Griebel ( www.griebel-media.de ).
